What Is Full-Mouth Rehabilitation?

Full-mouth rehabilitation can improve the health, appearance, and function of your teeth, gums, and jawbone for easier chewing and speaking, along with creating a more attractive smile. Contact our dental office in New York, NY to schedule an appointment and see which procedures are recommended for your needs.

When the time comes to consider a full-mouth rehabilitation plan at Maison BE Dental Studio, we often remind our New York, NY patients of the many benefits that can come with this procedure, such as:

  • Addressing symptoms of gum disease
  • Creating an overall healthier smile and mouth
  • Restoring the ability to chew and eat properly
  • Building confidence in your appearance and speech

Full-mouth rehabilitation may be needed in several circumstances. One common scenario is if you've lost a few teeth or have many teeth with large fillings that are ready for replacement. Additionally, you may have teeth with significant decay or teeth that are broken, cracked, or severely worn down due to bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). This extensive series of procedures at our New York, NY office may also be necessary if you have dental conditions or a genetic disorder, such as ectodermal dysplasia (teeth that never develop), amelogenesis imperfecta (abnormally small teeth), or dentinogenesis imperfecta (translucent or discolored teeth). In another case, you might want to replace old crowns or want to enhance your mouth for better comfort or health. In more complex situations, your degraded gums and teeth might have created sunken cheeks or another visible facial deformity. A full-mouth rehabilitation performed at Maison BE may rejuvenate the whole face when the ideal number of teeth are in your mouth.

How Does Full-Mouth Rehabilitation Work?

After a complete examination of your teeth, gums, and jawbone, your dentist will let you know if you're a good candidate for full-mouth reconstruction. Your unique treatment plan will be generated based on the condition of your own teeth, gum tissue, jaw joints, facial muscles, and dental bite. Your dentist will go over your therapy and sedation options and ensure your treatment strategy fits your needs and goals. Typically, full-mouth rehabilitation will require multiple visits to our New York, NY dental office with your total treatment time lasting a year or more. Once your full-mouth reconstruction is finished, it's important to maintain your oral health with proper flossing and brushing at home, in addition to yearly dental exams and biannual cleanings.

An exceptional dental experience like none other. From the moment I walked in the door until I left, I was treated like gold. The staff is warm and inviting. My hygienist, Jade was personable and put me at ease during my new patient experience. Dr. Ellen helped me create a plan of care based on my goals and what's best best for my oral health. The office is fabulous and it's a boutique experience I cannot recommend enough. This dental studio is like none other and I am so pleased to be a new patient at such a wonderful and caring dental studio. They have added touches and options that set them apart from all others and they have raised the bar on what an amazing patient experience is supposed to feel like. I speak confidently and with experience writing this review as I'm a nurse and they know what it means to make it all about the patient. They have thought of everything and then things that make sense that no other dental office has offered during an office visit. My under eye patches were soothing and my favorite part! I truly feel that everyone has my best interest at heart and insures I feel like a VIP while at Maison Be. They sent me home with a beautiful bag of goodies which made my day. I cannot wait to wear my new sweatshirt and feel apart of the Maison Be family as I am proud to represent such an exceptional dental studio. This women owned business has knocked it out of the park!!!!! I am pleased to support these women as they build a brand unlike none other. Thank you everyone who made my first experience one that I will not forget. I can't wait to go back and who says that about the dentist?! Fabulous and fun!!

Have been looking for a new dentist since i moved to the city and after some research and a TikTok post(haha) i decided to try out Maison Be. To start off the appointment making process was so smooth for a new patient, didn't have to call just made an appointment online; the front desk staff is very very organized, so welcoming and kind, very short wait and even offered me a beverage while i waited. The hygienist(completely forgot her name but i believe it starts with a J) and Dr (Ellen Katz) were both so sweet and personable. They both made me feel so comfortable with the amenities provided AND checked in with me while they were checking and cleaning my teeth. I really appreciate the service and visit I received because as a person of color I feel a lot of offices aren't as welcoming and genuine about the care they give me. So glad I found my new dentist! Thank you so much!!!

The doctor has the most personable approach, remembering me every time. Had my first ever filling (I was nervous) and they made me so comfortable. It also was super quick and efficient. As a former dentist hater/avoider, they have truly turned my views on the dentist around.

Dr. Ellen is the best. She had a comprehensive understanding of what I needed to get taken care of and she provided a plan that would work effectively to ensure I get the results I want. She was extremely attentive and performed every procedure smoothly with great results and zero pain! I recommend her for all dental needs and trust her to do what’s best for the patient because of her vast experience and academic knowledge. The experience at the office was 5 stars, it’s a beautiful place and felt like I was at a luxury spa!

About Us
Is full-mouth rehabilitation the same thing as a smile makeover?

While there are some procedures that will likely overlap between the average smile makeover and a typical full-mouth rehabilitation, they are not the same thing. Full-mouth reconstructions at Maison BE differ because they are necessary to restore full function to the teeth and mouth, while smile makeovers at our New York, NY facility are inherently more cosmetic. That said, a full-mouth rehabilitation should result in a new, beautiful smile.

What can I expect during the consultation for full-mouth rehabilitation?

During your consultation at Maison BE Dental Studio, our expert dentists will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, jawbone, and overall dental health. They will take the time to understand your specific needs, concerns, and goals. You may also undergo X-rays or other diagnostic imaging. This appointment is a great opportunity to ask any questions and discuss your preferences, and your dentists will carefully explain the recommended procedures and create a customized treatment plan for you.

Will the full-mouth rehabilitation procedure be painful?

The comfort of patients is a priority at Maison BE Dental Studio. Every step will be taken to ensure your full-mouth rehabilitation is as pain-free and comfortable as possible. Local anesthesia, sedation, or other pain management options may be available, depending on the procedures involved. After the procedure, you may experience some discomfort or soreness, but your dental team will provide you with specific aftercare instructions and any necessary medications to help manage any pain. Regular follow-up appointments will also ensure that your recovery is progressing as it should.

How long will it take to recover from a full-mouth reconstruction?

Your total recovery time will vary based on what procedures are performed. In some cases, you will likely need several separate sessions for various parts of your plan. Our team will provide you with the necessary aftercare instructions and timelines to help you recover properly.

How long will my results last?

After your final procedures and recoveries are finished, your outcomes should last indefinitely as long as you maintain a healthy and regular regimen of brushing and flossing and attend regular dental cleanings. However, after a period of several years, certain work may need to be replaced or restored, such as porcelain veneers.

Can full-mouth rehabilitation be done in stages?

Yes, full-mouth rehabilitation often involves multiple procedures, and it can be performed in stages to suit your individual needs, comfort, and budget. Your treatment plan will be tailored to you, and your dentist will discuss the timeline and sequence of procedures with you. This phased approach can make the process more manageable and allow for recovery between stages. Regular communication with your dental team and adherence to the outlined treatment plan will ensure the best possible outcome for your full-mouth rehabilitation.
