Am I A Good Candidate?
Most commonly, gums grafts are performed to fix gum recession caused by gum (periodontal) disease. Your gumline may be visibly higher and your gums may pull away from your teeth. The exposed tooth roots can cause greater sensitivity. Other reasons that might cause or lead to gum recession are brushing your teeth aggressively or with a poor technique, frequent teeth grinding (bruxism) or jaw clenching, and dental misalignment. In some cases, oral piercings (lip or tongue) can rub against the gums and lead to recession. During your consultation, Dr. Glazarov will examine your gums and decide if you are a good candidate for gum graft surgery.
What to Expect with Gum Grafting
There are various types of gum grafts that will be selected based on your individual needs. Connective tissue grafts are the most common type used to fix exposed tooth roots. This involves cutting an incision in the roof of your mouth to take a little flap of skin. The connective tissue is taken from inside the flap and then grafted to your gums. A free gingival graft is similar except that more tissue is taken from the roof of your mouth to increase particularly thin gums. The next procedure is a pedicle graft, which removes extra gum tissue from one area to where you need coverage. It is possible to go home following the procedure, but you need to rest for a couple of days. Our team will explain your recovery instructions, such as dietary restrictions and any necessary medications. You may feel some oral discomfort or pain for a short period, which could be reduced with cold packs and over-the-counter pain medication.

Have been looking for a new dentist since i moved to the city and after some research and a TikTok post(haha) i decided to try out Maison Be. To start off the appointment making process was so smooth for a new patient, didn't have to call just made an appointment online; the front desk staff is very very organized, so welcoming and kind, very short wait and even offered me a beverage while i waited. The hygienist(completely forgot her name but i believe it starts with a J) and Dr (Ellen Katz) were both so sweet and personable. They both made me feel so comfortable with the amenities provided AND checked in with me while they were checking and cleaning my teeth. I really appreciate the service and visit I received because as a person of color I feel a lot of offices aren't as welcoming and genuine about the care they give me. So glad I found my new dentist! Thank you so much!!!
The doctor has the most personable approach, remembering me every time. Had my first ever filling (I was nervous) and they made me so comfortable. It also was super quick and efficient. As a former dentist hater/avoider, they have truly turned my views on the dentist around.
Dr. Ellen is the best. She had a comprehensive understanding of what I needed to get taken care of and she provided a plan that would work effectively to ensure I get the results I want. She was extremely attentive and performed every procedure smoothly with great results and zero pain! I recommend her for all dental needs and trust her to do what’s best for the patient because of her vast experience and academic knowledge. The experience at the office was 5 stars, it’s a beautiful place and felt like I was at a luxury spa!

How much does gum grafting cost?
The price of gum grafting will differ from patient to patient depending on a number of factors. During your consultation, our team will listen to your concerns and assess your situation to create a personalized treatment plan. At that point, we’ll be able to provide an accurate cost estimate.
Is gum grafting painful?
During the procedure itself, patients will be under anesthesia, leaving them in no pain at all. However, once the procedure has finished, and the effects of the anesthesia have worn off, they may begin to feel some slight discomfort. Fortunately, this is usually very short-lived and can be easily managed with medication.
Do gum grafts look natural?
Yes. A gum graft can make your smile more proportionate while still looking totally natural. There may be a few days or weeks immediately following the procedure that could look a little swollen. However, once your gums heal, the results should look like your own, natural gumline.
