What Are Dental Bridges?

If one or a few of your teeth are missing, it's more than just a problem with appearance — gaps in your teeth can cause your remaining teeth to shift out of place. This can lead to extra tension when you bite, pain during chewing, or even trouble speaking. A dental bridge restores the appearance and health of your smile by filling in gaps using a false tooth supported by either dental implants, your natural teeth, or a combination of both. At Maison BE in New York, NY, our expert dentists offer custom-made bridges with top-quality materials that will help to give you back your beautiful smile. If you have one or more teeth missing from your smile, schedule a consultation to learn more about your restoration options with a custom bridge.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Bridges?

At Maison BE Dental Studio, dental bridges can help restore a person's complete smile in addition to offering several other benefits, including:

  • Improved speech and pronunciation
  • Enhanced chewing and biting abilities
  • Preventing remaining teeth from shifting or becoming misaligned
  • Created from durable, long-lasting materials
  • Boosting self-confidence
  • Avoiding potential speech impediments caused by missing teeth
  • Improving overall oral health by filling in gaps
  • Enjoying a comfortable, natural-looking replacement for missing teeth

What to Expect with Dental Bridges

A dental bridge requires the surrounding teeth to be strong enough to support the restoration with good jawbone density and gums. During your first appointment at Maison BE, a mouth examination will be performed, and 3D oral impressions will be captured so your bridge can be created. If needed, a temporary bridge or restoration can be used while your custom one is being made. As soon as your dental bridge is ready, your mouth will be numbed with local anesthesia, and your dental bridge will be glued into its position or connected to dental implants. Your practitioner will adjust the position of the bridge to ensure a comfortable, secure fit. After your bridge is in place, you should notice improved function and appearance of your teeth.

An exceptional dental experience like none other. From the moment I walked in the door until I left, I was treated like gold. The staff is warm and inviting. My hygienist, Jade was personable and put me at ease during my new patient experience. Dr. Ellen helped me create a plan of care based on my goals and what's best best for my oral health. The office is fabulous and it's a boutique experience I cannot recommend enough. This dental studio is like none other and I am so pleased to be a new patient at such a wonderful and caring dental studio. They have added touches and options that set them apart from all others and they have raised the bar on what an amazing patient experience is supposed to feel like. I speak confidently and with experience writing this review as I'm a nurse and they know what it means to make it all about the patient. They have thought of everything and then things that make sense that no other dental office has offered during an office visit. My under eye patches were soothing and my favorite part! I truly feel that everyone has my best interest at heart and insures I feel like a VIP while at Maison Be. They sent me home with a beautiful bag of goodies which made my day. I cannot wait to wear my new sweatshirt and feel apart of the Maison Be family as I am proud to represent such an exceptional dental studio. This women owned business has knocked it out of the park!!!!! I am pleased to support these women as they build a brand unlike none other. Thank you everyone who made my first experience one that I will not forget. I can't wait to go back and who says that about the dentist?! Fabulous and fun!!

Have been looking for a new dentist since i moved to the city and after some research and a TikTok post(haha) i decided to try out Maison Be. To start off the appointment making process was so smooth for a new patient, didn't have to call just made an appointment online; the front desk staff is very very organized, so welcoming and kind, very short wait and even offered me a beverage while i waited. The hygienist(completely forgot her name but i believe it starts with a J) and Dr (Ellen Katz) were both so sweet and personable. They both made me feel so comfortable with the amenities provided AND checked in with me while they were checking and cleaning my teeth. I really appreciate the service and visit I received because as a person of color I feel a lot of offices aren't as welcoming and genuine about the care they give me. So glad I found my new dentist! Thank you so much!!!

The doctor has the most personable approach, remembering me every time. Had my first ever filling (I was nervous) and they made me so comfortable. It also was super quick and efficient. As a former dentist hater/avoider, they have truly turned my views on the dentist around.

Dr. Ellen is the best. She had a comprehensive understanding of what I needed to get taken care of and she provided a plan that would work effectively to ensure I get the results I want. She was extremely attentive and performed every procedure smoothly with great results and zero pain! I recommend her for all dental needs and trust her to do what’s best for the patient because of her vast experience and academic knowledge. The experience at the office was 5 stars, it’s a beautiful place and felt like I was at a luxury spa!

About Us
Are there different types of dental bridges?

Yes, there are four main types of bridges:

  • Traditional bridges: These involve creating a crown for the tooth or implant on either side of the missing tooth.
  • Cantilever bridges: These are used when there are adjacent teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth.
  • Maryland-bonded bridges: These involve a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the backs of the adjacent teeth.
  • Implant-supported bridges: Unlike traditional bridges that rely on adjacent natural teeth for support, these bridges are anchored directly to the jawbone using dental implants.
How do I care for my dental bridge?

Caring for a dental bridge is similar to looking after natural teeth. Brush twice daily using fluoride toothpaste and floss under the bridge and between adjacent teeth. Using an antiseptic mouthwash can also help keep harmful bacteria at bay. Additionally, you should avoid hard foods or candies that might damage the bridge. Regular dental check-ups ensure its longevity and allow your dentist at Maison BE in New York, NY to spot any potential issues early on.

Is getting a dental bridge painful?

While there might be some discomfort during the preparation phase, local anesthesia is typically used to numb the area. After the procedure, there might be mild soreness, but over-the-counter pain relievers can help.
